Christian Formation
Saint Luke's Christian Formation is an intentional group for all ages. "Christian Formation" concerns the process of growth in a life-long process from baptism into an intimate relationship with Christ.
Godly Play is a method of education for children ages 2-12. It has been successfully used in all regions of the US and in diverse denominations since 1972. At Saint Luke's, we have three Godly Play accredited teachers know as Story Tellers and six trained assistants known as Door Keepers. The class meets at 9:45 in the Sacred Space, a dedicated space just for Godly Play. The story is told and the children respond to the story in various ways, such as: art or playing with the materials that were used to tell the story. It has successfully been implemented at Saint Luke's since 2003. In Annapolis, parents are concerned with childrens' education, and Godly Play is a quality education that appeals to the children.
The web site for Godly Play is: Godly Play
The Intermediate class will soon be doing the companion program to Godly Play, called Rite 13. Currently the class is studying the lectionary for the day. This is The Word and includes the Old and New Testament lessons, a Psalm and the Gospel that are being read in the service. The children join the service after the sermon for The Eucharist.
At the annual meeting, a survey was taken for topics and format for an Adult Christian Formation Class. During Lent, we are meeting on Saturday evening at six thirty for a simple soup supper followed by discussion of the Lord's Prayer.
We invite all ages to join us in this spiritual faith journey.
