Outreach Programs

CELEBRATING GOD’S WORK IN THE WORLD

Lighthouse Shelter Lunches – every Sunday morning we make and deliver 20 bag lunches to the Lighthouse Shelter for distribution to the homeless during the week.

Thrift Shop/Goodwill – we provide low-cost clothing for the whole family and small household items in our Thrift Shop, located in the undercroft of our church – open each week on Fridays, 10am- 3pm and Saturdays, 10am to noon. We accept donations during those hours, as well. Items we are unable to use or sell are taken to Goodwill for their use.

Nursing Home Ministry – in cooperation with the Eastport Ecumenical Coalition, we provide a prayer service and hymn sing on the first Saturday of each month at the Annapolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, corner of Van Buren and Bay Ridge Ave.

Food Pantry – St. Luke’s is the distribution site for the Eastport Food Bank sponsored by St. Luke’s, Eastport United Methodist, Mt. Zion UMC and John Wesley United Methodist. Food is available to those in need weekly on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9am–noon.

Eastport Ecumenical Coalition – St. Luke’s joins other church members in the community for joint worship services, Christmas caroling, the winter relief project, the nursing home program and other events to improve the quality of life in our community.

GAIN (Greater Annapolis Interfaith Network) – we are a sponsor church of this interfaith organization that was founded to work for equity and justice for all in the Greater Annapolis community.

AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) – meets each Monday evening from 5–7pm in the undercroft of our church.

Cub Scouts – we sponsor BSA Troop #153, a Cub Scout troop for boys from kindergarten to 5th grade. They meet Thursday evenings in the undercroft of our church.

Easter Egg Hunt – the Saturday before Easter, community children are invited to an Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn of the church. Baskets and refreshments are provided.

Little Elves Workshop – one afternoon in December, the undercroft of our church is turned into a craft workshop for community children to make gifts for their family and loved ones. Gift wrapping and refreshments are offered.

Heifer International – the Sunday School offertory is sent to this organization to provide animals and farm supplies to fight poverty and hunger in under developed countries around the world.

Blessing of the Animals – in October each year, animals in the community are given individual blessings by the clergy in honor of ST. FRANCIS of ASSISI. Bake table donation proceeds benefit the SPCA.
