These are the results of a congregational survey on Issues Facing the Episcopal Church (Both nationally and in the Diocese of Maryland) Adult Forum - January 28, 2007 St. Luke’s, Eastport
What are the three issues facing The Episcopal Church as a whole that are important to and/or significant for you?
- The need to establish and communicate the identity of the Episcopal Church; i.e., Scripture-Tradition-Reason; and commitment to social justice.
- Schism (potential and existing issues)
- Declining membership
What are the three issues facing The Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Maryland that are important to and/or significant for you?
- Awareness of a need for tolerance and acceptance of all viewpoints as well as a need of development of Young Adults and Youth Ministry.
- Improvement of communications from diocesan center to parishes to promote diocesan programs; i.e., activities, training opportunities, retreats; especially for those parishioners who do not have e-mail.
- Holding Diocesan Conventions during school/work week, preventing attendance by working parishioners.
