Christian Formation
Saint Luke's Christian Formation is an intentional group for all ages. "Christian Formation" concerns the process of growth in a life-long process from baptism into an intimate relationship with Christ.
Godly Play is a method of education for children ages 2-12. In Godly Play, a biblical story is told and the children respond to the story in various ways, such as: art or playing with the materials that were used to tell the story. It has successfully been implemented at Saint Luke's since 2003. In Annapolis, parents are concerned with children's education, and Godly Play is a quality education that appeals to the children. Rite 13 is the companion program to Godly Play, in which pre-teens study each Sunday's Lectionary readings. This is The Word and includes the Old and New Testament lessons, a Psalm and the Gospel that are being read in the service. The children join the service after the sermon for The Eucharist. Many parishioners also participate in Education For Ministry (EFM) is available. Many of us also participate in Cursillo weekends. Contact Mary Beth Dent for details (410-267-9394). During Lent and Advent we also participate adult discussions, often shared over a shared meal in our undercroft. This fall we will be hosting discussions on Christian mysticism and Michelangelo's vision of God.
